Early start for The Severn

The new radio stations for Shrewsbury and Oswestry have launched this morning at 7am. Although the station only has one licence, the management behind The Severn decided to take advantage of two broadcast frequencies – and created two stations for the price of one. Both stations launched with Seven Days by Sting.

All programmes from 6am to 7pm are local for each frequency. 106.5 The Severn is broadcast from Abbey Foregate in Shrewsbury, whilst 107.1 The Severn is based at Salop Road in Oswestry, covering Oswestry, Gobowen, St. Martin's, Chirk and North West Shropshire.

Ofcom awarded the licence to the The Severn, previously known as Shrewsbury FM, on 9th February 2006 and is owned by MNA Broadcasting Limited.

Check back later to hear the launch sequences from both stations.
