Emap Radio are today shouting about their latest set of RAJAR results. And with good reason too. Q3 2006 has delivered the group with its highest ever set of listening figures.
Magic 105.4 moves down to second place in the battle to be the number one commercial station in London giving the baton back to Heart 106.2.
Every week, 11,770,000 people tune in to an Emap Radio station (a 5.8 per cent rise y-on-y) — listening for 109,614,000 hours. Nearly a quarter of all listening to commercial radio (24 per cent) is delivered by Emap.
Across the UK, the recently relaunched Magic AM network has added 1 million hours taking it to 7,526,000. A total of 3,035,000 million people enjoy a Magic radio service every week.
In London 1,324,000 people tune in to Kiss 100 to hear dance, hip hop and urban music. The Kiss 100 Breakfast Show with Robin Banks attracts 645,000 listeners every week, a 27 per cent rise on the year.
Kerrang! Radio has delivered its best ever set of listening figures both across the UK and in its West Midlands FM heartland.
In the West Midlands, Kerrang! 105.2 attracts 398,000 listeners every week, an 24.4 per cent rise on the year. They are listening for longer than ever, with a 24.7 per cent rise on the quarter to 2,773,000 hours. Across the UK more than 100,000 new listeners have discovered the best guitar music on the dial with a total of 1,349,000 people tuning into Kerrang! Radio every week.
Emap’s Big City Network serves the major conurbations across the North of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland with 4,865,000 listeners every week. Listening to the Network grew by 1,475,000 hours. There were strong performances across the Big City Network including the bigger stations such as Key 103 in Manchester, Radio City in Liverpool, Radio Aire in Leeds, Metro Radio in Newcastle and Cool FM in Belfast.
