Academy membership to go free

Personal membership to The Radio Academy is set to be free shortly, in a bid to encourage more radio industry people to join. Speaking at the Chairman's New Year Welcome in London last night, Trevor Dann announced the news in front of a small audience of invited guests.

Chairman of The Radio Academy is GMG Radio boss John Myers, who welcomed everyone to the evening and offered special thanks to those who travelled from other regions to attend the event. He then introduced the Director of The Radio Academy Trevor Dann.

Trevor said he wanted more people to get involved with the Academy, which is why free membership will be offered to staff of patron stations, plus hospital radio volunteers and students. No doubt Trevor will be talking about this latest news when he speaks at the RadioCentre Members Conference later this afternoon.
