Ex-BBC Solent man goes Original

Just days after silky-voiced Richard Cartridge left BBC Radio Solent, he finds himself being snapped up by John Evington at Original 106 in Southampton. Richard has been broadcasting in the region for over 30 years and now takes over the Sunday morning show on February 4th.

John Evington told RadioToday.co.uk: “In terms of on-air personnel Original 106 is something of a patchwork quilt — entirely by design. We have a rich assortment of personalities on the station ranging from our witty Breakfast Boys, Simon James and Hill to the more music-focused approach of, say, Nick Jackson. Richard is one of the south’s longest-serving and most loved radio personalities and I am delighted to welcome him into the Original ‘family’. His warm, relaxed style will be absolutely perfect for the Original Sunday Breakfast”.

Richard has also worked for Classic FM and 2CR during his radio career. His last programme on BBC Radio Solent was Friday 5th January, and he is one of a handful of presenters who have recently left the station.
