Eagle Radio interview scoop

The newsteam at UKRD station 96.4 Eagle Radio have managed to secure an exclusive interview with a former Zimbabwe State Policeman who fled to Surrey to escape the Mugabe regime. In the conversation, he talks about his ordeal in the 1990's.

The station has called him "John" to protect his own safety. He told how he was forced to follow government orders to torture anyone opposing the Zanu-PF party: "The idea was just to stop them completely; by beating them, tear-gassing them, and things like that."

During the Eagle Radio News interview, "John" expressed regret for his actions "I just feel so bad, but you know, I had no option, I feel that I mustn't be doing this but, what else can I do?".

With tears in his eyes, "John" told Eagle Radio's Head Of News, Rob Harris, how, unable to cope any longer with Government orders and fearing for the lives of his family, he handed his resignation to a friend and fled the country.
