Murray drives back to Five Live

The legendary voice of Formula One, Murray Walker is returning to BBC Radio Five Live, six years after his retirement from the commentary box. His special one-off appearence will take place over the weekend of the European Grand Prix in Germany in July.

He will be working along side the regular Five Live team of Maurice Hamilton in the commentary box and Holly Samos providing all the news from the pit lane. He is replacing David Croft whose baby is due that weekend.

Murray will also host a special Formula One edition of the Five Live 606 phone-in, live from the Nüerburgring 6-7pm on Saturday 21 July. Listeners can call or text in their questions and comments.

Murray Walker is looking forward to commentating for Five Live, especially on Lewis Hamilton. He says "I think that Lewis Hamilton will go on to be one of the greatest drivers of all time. There aren't enough superlatives for what he is is doing race after race — it's extraordinary and unprecedented in the history of Formula One.
