The good times are back

Heritage oldies station WCBS FM has returned to New York, after a gap of two years. It was at local time 1:01pm Thursday when the Beach Boys sang Do It Again, and New Yorkers finally got their oldies radio station back. Jack FM had occupied the frequency since a sudden format flip in 2005.

For a full 20 minutes before the launch, an audio montage of news clips and popular songs were mixed together representing various events from the last few decades. WCBS FM first started with an oldies format over 30 years ago, and locals have been campaigning since Jack arrived to switch it back.

Presenters include Bob Shannon and Dan Taylor but Cousin Brucie was no-where to be seen – he is now working for satellite network SIRIUS.
