Xfm to launch within months

Xfm South Wales is set to launch before the end of the year, and has announced its first two marketing appointments. Lisa Fairclough joins from sister-station Red Dragon FM, whilst new Events Manager Nick Miles rejoins GCap Media, having previously worked at BRMB and Capital.

Lisa Fairclough has worked for the last 3 years at Red Dragon FM as part of the marketing team, and can't wait for the launch: "Xfm is a great brand that will provide the South Wales marketplace with the best new music and talent. We are hugely excited about launching the station later on this year and there will be plenty of opportunity to get involved in the party!"

Nick Miles said "I am very excited to be joining the Xfm team. South Wales has a vibrant music scene and Xfm will provide a perfect outlet with its commitment to hosting over 100 music events a year!"

Commenting on the appointments, the Xfm network’s managing director, Nick Davidson added “These are the first of many appointments and represent a key milestone in the launch plans for Xfm South Wales. Both Nick and Lisa were the obvious candidates; they love the Xfm brand and are committed to launching a new radio era in South Wales.”

Xfm will continue to fill its other positions ready for a huge station launch at the end of the year. GCap Media has committed to investing £1millon in the South Wales market place in the launch of the new music station.

GCap Media, owners of the Xfm brand around the country won the licence to broadcast in April 2007 after a battle between most of the major UK radio groups. It will broadcast, ironically, from The Red Dragon Centre in Cardiff, named after local radio station Red Dragon FM.

The station will be a wholly local enterprise, sourcing presenters, technicians, backroom staff and a host of other talent from the area.
