Tameside helps the community

Tameside Radio, the community station launching in September will be carbon neutral from the day it turns on its transmitter. The station is investing in environmental schemes to nullify the carbon impact of the radio station.

Commenting on the scheme, Tameside Radio’s Director of Programmes and breakfast presenter Andy Hoyle told RadioToday.co.uk “Tameside Radio is keen to make a big impact, but not on the environment. Tameside Radio will feature editorial content that matters to the people of Tameside across the wide range of issues affecting the community.

“The radio station will be championing local environmental issues as part of our commitment to Tameside, being carbon neutral is an obvious step for us. We believe that we are the first radio station in the UK to be carbon neutral but we hope that we are the first of many”
