Recruitment service launched

Radio support network United Radio and S&S Media Recruitment have got together to help match presenters, journalists and programmers with opportunities in radio. The new talent recruitment service will be headed by Paul Chantler and Steve Woods.

Paul Chantler, senior partner with United Radio says the timing is right: "Traditionally, radio stations have been reluctant to invest in an external specialist to recruit presenters, journalists and programmers. To date, there has been a reliance upon word-of-mouth and job advertising, although radio companies regularly rely on agencies like S&S to recruit sales executives. We believe the industry has now grown in size and sophistication for professional talent recruitment to work in programming in the same way it does for sales and management selection. No longer is it possible for stations to rely simply on unsolicited presenter demos to select their team. They have specific requirements and working with a programming specialist with knowledge and the right contacts can make a search more successful and efficient."

Paul is a well known international radio consultant with over 25 years of experience in training, managing and developing radio talent.

Steve Wood says: "We're delighted to be joining forces with United Radio. We work closely with many radio companies and we're often asked to help recruit presenters and programmers. Up until now our focus has been on placing sales and management professionals. Our alliance with United Radio means we can work with Paul to respond to new opportunities."
