Goodier hires Radio 1 producer

Mark Goodier's independent production company Wise Buddah has appointed Radio 1 executive producer, Sam Steele, in the new role of head of programmes. Sam has spent eight years at the national station but is ready for a fresh challenge.

Mark said Sam is an important addition to the company: "I look forward to working with her to build on Wise Buddah’s reputation and expand our existing portfolio of programmes and commissions”

Sam will concentrate on maintaining existing commissions and developing programming and multi-media opportunities for Wise Buddah. She has created several high profile and successful multi-media campaigns for Radio 1 and its sister station 1Xtra. During her time at Radio 1 Sam has also won seven Radio Academy Awards as well as numerous other industry gongs and most recently scooped the prestigious Mental Health Media Award beating Stephen Fry’s Secret Life of The Manic Depressive, with what was described by the judges as “daring and powerful” radio.

Sam says, “I started out writing for the music press and graduated to music TV production, but radio is most definitely my passion, and being able to come up with creative ways to spin radio across emerging outlets and platforms is a really exciting prospect. Having had eight incredible years at Radio 1, I am really looking forward to the fresh editorial challenges that Wise Buddah offers.”

Sam Steele takes up the position on 14th January, 2008.
