Double shifts at Newcastle

BBC Radio Newcastle presenter Sue Sweeney is the new host of Saturday and Sunday mornings.. and Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Sue will present a four hour show from 9am till 1pm, then return for the last show from 10pm till 1am on both days.

Sue says: "I'm thrilled to bits to be chatting to my listeners, not once a day, but twice! The best thing about radio is the stories I get from my listeners and the laughs we have at the weekend. I'm really looking forward to my new routine."

Radio Newcastle Editor Andrew Robson says: "Sue is a great North East personality and a first-class entertainer. She makes every show a must-listen. There is no doubt that Sue creates radio with character."

Frank Wappat, father of Smooth Radio's Paul Wappat, stays in his usual Sunday evening slot of 7 till 10pm.
