New Southend station launches

Southend Radio has launched at 8am today, after three weeks of tests on 105.1 FM. The locally owned station is broadcasting from a new building next to Adventure Island theme park in Southend-on-Sea.

The station won a licence to broadcast almost two years ago in April 2006, fighting off competition from Diamond, Estuary FM and Seacoast Sound.
Southend Radio was backed by Tindle Radio Group but they have since withdrawn their support, leaving Adventure Island chief executive Philip Miller to take care of business.
Breakfast is hosted by Mikey Porter, with Tracie Young on mid-mornings and Ben Payne presents a live and local evening show.
Programming the station is drive-time presenter James O’Neil, formerly with Kick FM in Berkshire. Jingles have comes from JonesTM in Dallas, and are a re-sing from the 107 The Bee package.
The station is not streaming online so we have no recording of transmission for this station, however, we have managed to bag an exclusive on the jingle package, and you can listen to that by clicking [file={e_BASE}request.php?55]here[/file].
