New chief executive for DRDB

National Grid Wireless general manager of broadcast Tony Moretta has been named as the new chief executive of the Digital Radio Development Bureau.

At NGW, Tony was responsible for the commercial side of the broadcast business, working with customers such as the BBC, ITV, Channel Four, BSkyB and most of the major commercial radio companies, meaning Tony is already well known to many DAB broadcasters. He led NGW’s bid for the second national commercial DAB digital radio multiplex last year and is familiar with the radio team at Ofcom.
DRDB chairman Simon Cole says: "Tony is a passionate advocate of DAB digital radio, a passion that has been born out of a close involvement in the development of the technology over the last few years at NGW. He knows well the challenges ahead as we take digital to the next stage of its development and I am impressed with the excitement that those challenges generate within him."
Tony will take up his new post in June. Until then, Paul Brown will continue as temporary DRDB chief executive.
