Radio producer in Big Brother

A radio producer from Scotland has become the first blind person to enter the Big Brother house. Michael Hughes works for Insight Radio, the radio station of the RNIB, which broadcasts on Sky and FM in Glasgow.

Mickey, as he is being known on the show, is 33 years old and joined the station in 2004. He has been totally blind for 10 years after an operation went wrong.
Writing on his profile page at insightradio.co.uk he says: “Working for Insight Radio has increased my confidence and skills and it’s great to be working for a radio station that reduces isolation and helps to create a sense of community for blind and partially sighted people.”
Three years ago radio engineer Eugene Sully entered the Big Brother house and finished second favourite. 16 contestants have 13 weeks to prove themselves as the most popular to win the cash prize.
