A radio Revolution in Oldham

Manchester radio personality Steve Penk is just one part of a major new line-up for 96.2 The Revolution in Oldham, RadioToday.co.uk can reveal.
Whilst Steve returns to the breakfast slot, former Key 103 colleague and Radio 1 DJ Gary King will host mid-mornings and James H Reeve joins for Saturday Sport. The new line-up will be guided by newly appointed station manager John Evington.

Steve will lead the schedule with breakfast on the station, which currently only has a 1.4 per cent audience share, and 17,000 listeners. Weekend programmes includes the syndicated Totally 80’s’ with Gary King, Pat Sharp’s ‘Weekend Vibe’ and, on Saturday mornings, Steve Penk’s ‘signature’ Wind-Up show.
James H Reeve will host the Saturday sport show. He was last heard in the Manchester area on 106.1 Rock Radio presenting the weekend breakfast show. He left a few weeks after the station launched in May 2008.
“There will more surprises along the way”, promises Steve. “I’ve invested a lifetime's work in this venture and I’m determined to give this great part of the North West the station it deserves. I am very confident that with the new team in place we can achieve just that”.
Former Original 106 managing director John Evington will lead the new team, which changed from a rock and 'indie' music format two weeks ago, to a female friendly adult contemporary format. New jingles have also been created by JonesTM of Dallas with fresh production supplied by Devaweb.
“To me it was just crazy for a locally-focused station to be going for a minority audience by playing specialist rock music”, says Steve, “and a ‘flip’ back to the original AC format seemed the obvious way forward. I am absolutely delighted with the quality of the team joining me for the re-launch”.
