Gillard nominations announced

Two East Midlands radio teams will go up against BBC London for this year's BBC local radio station of the year award.

The programme teams at BBC Radio Nottingham and BBC Radio Derby have been shortlisted for the annual accolade. The winners will be announced at this year's Frank Gillard awards which take place on Thursday October 16 at The Royal Armouries in Leeds.

BBC London's Vanessa Feltz, Radio Bristol's Ben Prater and Radio Lancashire's Ted Robbins compete for programme presenter of the year. BBC Radio's Leicester, Nottingham and Tees will battle it out the breakfast programme category.

This year's ceremony in Yorkshire comes after BBC Radio Leeds' victory as station of the year for 2007. This year's awards will be presented by the director general, Mark Thompson.
