Absolute Radio is to take the unprecedented step of opening up playlist meetings to listeners.
Each week the programming department will pick a listener to come to the playlist meeting, listen and debate the songs available with station staff and presenters.
Listeners will get an insight in to why decisions are made and help mould the Absolute brand, whose primary product is music.
Most Wanted DJ Ben Jones is responsible for the idea, which he posted on the Golden Square blog.
Clive Dickens at Absolute Radio said: “Our listeners are key to building the Absolute brand and knowing what they think about the music we're passionate about has always been one of our major objectives.
"Playlist meetings have always had a sheath of mystery around them and in opening them up we’re really breaking the radio mould.”
Absolute Radio launches on Monday 29th September.
