A community radio station in Greater Manchester has developed a new online service which enables potential advertisers to buy advertising on the radio via the station's website.
Classifieds Online, where the buyer picks the number of spots, days of broadcast and even write their 20 second script, has been developed in house by Tameside Radio.
The target clients for “Classifieds Online” are ideally small businesses promoting events and offers, says Tameside Radio managing director, Simon Walker. “Classifieds Online are ideally suited to pubs and clubs, or anyone that has a specific or regular event to market. Anything from the pub quiz, to local tradesmen and women will benefit from this initiative.”
The initiative works using paypal and minimises administration as advertisers write and submit the script as part of the payment process. Scripts are then checked and compiled into groups prior to recording. “We have taken four bookings in the first day, and should the initiative prove a success over the medium term we would be delighted to share it with any other radio station.”
