Mayo to replace Bruce on Radio 2?

An apparent long-term secret BBC plan to move Simon Mayo across to BBC Radio 2 from 5 Live has leaked to a Sunday newspaper.
The Mail on Sunday suggests Ken Bruce will make way for Mayo, who doesn't want to uproot his family and move to Manchester with 5 Live in 2011.

Ken Bruce currently hosts the mid-morning show on the nation's most listened to station, and has been with the BBC for 26 years. Simon Mayo is already a regular stand-in presenter for the show when Ken is away.
A BBC insider has [link=http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1084191/New-shock-Radio-2-fans-After-Russell-Brand-furore-Ken-Bruce-faces-chop.html?ITO=1490]told[/link] the newspaper: "Simon was concerned that the plan would be scrapped following Lesley Douglas's resignation after the Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand scandal.
"But Simon made some calls last week and has been assured that it will all go ahead and he will still be taking over the Ken Bruce show. This is very big as far as changes at Radio 2 are concerned."
