PM opens new Global Radio HQ

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has officially opened the new studios of Global Radio in London’s Leicester Square. The building is now home to no less than eight radio stations, including Capital FM, LBC, Heart, Choice, Classic FM, XFM and Gold.

Gordon Brown, accompanied by Global Group Founder and Group CEO, Ashley Tabor, officially cut the ribbon to the building before meeting Global staff as well as presenters including Capital’s Johnny Vaughan and Lisa Snowdon, Heart’s Jamie Theakston and Harriet Scott, Classic FM’s Simon Bates and LBC’s Nick Ferrari.
The Prime Minister was then a live guest on London’s LBC 97.3 taking live calls from listeners, before walking across the corridor to launch his knife crime initiative on Global Radio’s youth network, Galaxy/Choice.
Ashley Tabor commented: "We are delighted that the Prime Minister has chosen our Galaxy/Choice network of stations to launch his knife crime initiative and we are pleased he agreed to join us today to officially open our new HQ which now broadcasts to more than 18M people each week."
The building in Leicester Square originally housed just Capital Radio following a move from Euston Tower in 1997.
