Wave 105 has hosted the first fundraising activity for their charity Wave 105 cash for Kids, with a live on-air auction. It raised £42k for local children who are financially, socially, emotionally or physically disadvantaged.
The biggest donation of the day was for £4,000, giving the lucky bidder the opportunity to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, with Rhys Jones, the youngest ever mountaineer to summit the highest peaks in all seven continents.
Martin Ball, Managing Director at Wave 105, says, “The amount raised in just 24 hours was a fantastic achievement and testimony to both the generosity of our listeners and the appeal of our charity with its commitment to children exclusively in our region. I can’t thank our listeners enough and I hope that they will continue to support our fundraising initiatives in the future.”
