HRB celebrates 25 years

Volunteers at Hospital Radio Basingstoke are celebrating 25 years of broadcasting by creating a six hour chart countdown presented from its studio in Basingstoke and from in Auckland in New Zealand.

The station’s annual countdown of its most requested artists ever which is compiled from all of the requests collected since it went on air, has four presenters this year. Regular hosts Neil Ogden and Sarah Beattie are joined by Steve Fox, the first person to be heard on the station on January 11th 1984.

Steve spent 13 years with the station and now presents the evening show at nearby Kestrel FM in Basingstoke.

Also presenting is Andy McCormick. Andy is the presenter of the weekly “Postcard from New Zealand” programme and will be presenting his part of the show from his home studio in Auckland New Zealand.

Programme Controller Neil Ogden says: “This will be the fifth year we have presented this chart that is compiled from all of the requests we have collected – that’s over 68,000 requests – but as it’s the 25th anniversary, we wanted to make it a bit different, and how many other chart shows have been presented from opposite sides of the world?”

HRB’s Most Requested Artists Ever is on HRB live from Mid-day until 6pm on Sunday 11 January 2009.
