Smooth Radio will be the first radio station in the world to play the launch single for the first new Elvis album in 33 years, Viva Elvis.
The track, a remake of Suspicious Minds, will air on Friday morning during each Smooth Radio regional breakfast show and on Digital One nationwide.
Viva ELVIS – The Album, is a 21st century celebration of Elvis and his music, featuring the voice of the king in a whole new context. These new versions of his classic songs are taken from the Cirque Du Soleil show of the same name that has recently started a 10 year residency in Las Vegas.
Smooth Radio will shortly switch from five regional stations in England to one national network, with the same programmes being broadcast on regional FM and national DAB. Smooth Radio Scotland, based in Glasgow, will continue to provide at least seven hours of local programmes as per the Digital Economy Act.
