Local Capital line-ups revealed

RadioToday.co.uk can reveal who'll be doing the local shows on the eight new Capital FM stations outside London from January.

At most stations the current breakfast and drive presenters will keep their jobs, with one networked daytime Galaxy jock also moving to a local peak-time slot.

In January, the six Galaxy FM stations will re-brand to Capital FM. Red Dragon FM in South Wales will also become Capital, while in the East Midlands three stations merge to create one regional. All 8 of the new Capital stations, along with London's 95.8 Capital FM, will together form a national station (with local peak time programmes). The changes have been made possible by Ofcom's relaxation of radio regulation following the Digital Economy Act.

None of the current Leicester Sound line-up appear to have a slot on the new Capital FM East Midlands, which see the Leicester station merge with Trent and Ram. The local shows in the region will be done by the current breakfast teams from the Nottingham and Derby stations.

95.8 Capital FM London's mid-morning and afternoon shows – presented by Roberto and The Bassman – will complete the daytime line-ups for the 8 stations in the regions. We've asked Global Radio about the networked evening, late, overnight and weekend line-ups and will update this story when we find out… so watch this space!
