Global and Bauer do business

The UK's two biggest commercial radio groups are teaming up for a competition to find aspiring entrepreneurs.

Global Radio and Bauer Radio will promote the Take One Small Step campaign across their major stations to help people launch business ideas or take their existing firms to the next level.

Global and Bauer are in the partnership along with Newslink and Barclays, which will air for 5-months across 32 stations including Heart, Capital, LBC, Magic 105.4, Clyde 1, Key 103, Metro Radio and City Talk.

Walker Media, for a second year, briefed Global and Bauer to work together to deliver a truly integrated, national campaign. It devised the strategy and has negotiated the deal on Barclays’ behalf.

Nine regional prizes worth £50,000 each will be awarded to the most deserving business idea. A further £50,000 will also be distributed amongst the runners up and winners of ‘Special Awards’. A panel of Barclays’ experts will pick a short-list in each region and the public will be invited to vote for their favourite entrepreneur.

Walker Media’s Account Director Jessica Cannon said: "Following the competition’s success in year one, we are pleased to be working with Bauer and Global for a second year running to communicate Barclays commitment to businesses. The competition will continue to be supported nationally with a variety of formats – from spot airtime to features to live reads – to maximise engagement and involvement at the crucial moments in the campaign. In 2010, there was a great standard (and volume!) of entries and we are confident that year two will continue to deliver great results."
