Iain Lee to host Student Awards

Absolute Radio presenter Iain Lee is to host the Student Radio Awards next week, as the station itself sponsors the event.

The I Love Student Radio Awards takes place during the National Student Radio Association Conference in Hertfordshire on Tuesday 19th April.

The awards will include categories such as Most Improved Student Radio Station, Station Manager of the Year, Community Spirit Award and Outstanding Contribution to Student Radio.

Absolute Radio will also be offering a month’s work experience placement within the station’s programme department for a winner. Independent production company USP who produce Absolute Radio’s Rock ‘N’ Roll Football show will also offer a work experience placement. Roberts will also be providing digital radios to all winners.

Absolute Radio executive producer, Paul Sylvester, and DJs Vicki Blight and Mark Crossley, who have all had experience in student radio, will all be on the judging panel for the awards alongside members of the Student Radio Association Executive, who have seen the stations and individual students progress throughout the year.

“It’s incredibly important to support and nurture emerging radio talent in the radio sector and what better way than supporting the I Love Student Radio Awards?” Said Clive Dickens, Absolute Radio’s Chief Operating Officer, “The wealth of extraordinary talent at One Golden Square is testament to this with a huge amount of my colleagues coming from student radio across on air, programming, scheduling and commercial teams. I even had a show myself – no tapes exist!”

Absolute Radio Content Director Tony Moorey, executive producer Paul Sylvester and DJs Dave Gorman and Vicki Blight are all signed up to be speakers at the annual event next week.
