Three shortlisted for Techcon radio award

Three projects from the radio industry have been shortlisted for the first ever TechCon Technical Innovation Award.

The winner will be announced at the Radio Festival, taking place in Salford at the end of this month.

The judging panel has selected three entrants from a very strong field to be invited to present a brief summary of their innovation at this year’s event on 31 October.

The shortlist for the TechCon Technical Innovation Award sponsored by Broadcast Bionics is:
Absolute Radio – The Rock N Roll Football Live Scores Data
Hackney Hear – The Hackney Hear iPhone App
BBC/Frontier Silicon/Global Radio – RadioTAG

The winning entry will be announced at the Radio Fair in the evening after this year’s TechCon and the winner will repeat their presentation at the Radio Festival on Tuesday 1st November.

Bauer Media’s Head of Broadcast Systems Martyn Humphreys is Chair of this year’s TechCon. He said: “TechCon is very proud to support some of the most forward thinking of our colleagues and to celebrate the cutting edge developments which shape our industry. The judges were very impressed with the high standard of all the entries, but shortlisted these three because of their potential to really change the game in the radio industry.”

This year’s judging panel consisted of Stephen Baily (General Manager, BBC R&D), James Cridland (Radio Futurologist and MD, MediaUK), Alex Lakey (Lead Consultant, Global Media Consultancy at Atos) and Peter Willison (Head of Technology, Radio at Arqiva).
