One of Chris Moyles’ contestants on the Carpark Catchphrase competition is enjoying free publicity for his weekly community radio show.
Warren Doyle, who hosts a sports show on KCC Live in Knowsley, has also seen his Twitter followers rise to over 10,000.
The profile of the community radio station has grown on a national scale, with its website and streaming server having trouble keeping up with demand from new listeners.
Warren told RadioToday.co.uk: “At first I was worried because Moyles mentioned the KCC Live website, which caused it to crash but I think they are really pleased now because it has raised their profile through the roof! I received a phone call from Hywel Evans who is the Breakfast Show host on Rock FM and is part of the station management at KCC.
“He was extremely pleased and told me that I came across well and made KCC sound like a good place to be. He came up with the station strap line ‘Boss Music & No Ads’ and when he had heard Chris Moyles say it on Radio 1, he was very happy.”
The Everton fan is hoping the extra exposure will help him in his radio career. He once did work experience at Dune FM in Southport and joined KCC Live when he heard they were looking for a sports reporter.
Daily promotion of KCC Live by Chris Moyles and his team takes place around 9.45am each day, along with Warren’s opponent Joey Peaky from Essex. Joey’s Twitter account has added almost 15,000 followers since he’s been on this show.
Warren knows it won’t last forever so is enjoying the situation whilst he can: “It’s been an incredible few weeks, I haven’t stopped smiling and I just hope I can carry on and that this is some way helps me land my dream job in radio!”
