Amazing Radio, the digital station broadcasting from the North-east of England, has launched time-shifted streams of its output for American listeners.
The station has also hired two new American presenters to join its schedule.
Mike Taylor will host a show on Thursday evenings. He’s been presenting at WOXY and has been championing new music since his college radio days, and Tobi, is big in LA and Washington where she’s been programming the music for an indie station on XM Satellite Radio, will host The Amazing Happy Hour with Tobi each Saturdays 6pm-8pm.
“We’re thrilled to expand our transatlantic adventure with two such experienced and expert new presenters,” said Amazing founder Paul Campbell. “In terms of musical credibility and broadcasting expertise, Tobi and Mike have been there, done it, and got so many tee-shirts they need an extra closet.
“Their arrival coincides with another radio first from amazing: instant and automated time-shifting of Amazing Radio to every US timezone at amazingradio.com, with tracklisting also delayed, and every track available to buy, download or stream from amazingtunes.com. Last week, 35% of our traffic came from the States; we’re already breaking through there, as we did in the UK in 2011. We have big expansion plans for 2012: this is just the beginning. We look forward to hearing Tobi and Mike rip up the airwaves and help give even more great artists their first-ever radio play.”
Amazing Radio is available across the UK on DAB using the Digital One national multiplex.
