Radio Academy NW puts on Livesey event

BBC Radio 5 live late show presenter Tony Livesey is to be grilled about radio and his media career as part of a session organised by the Radio Academy.

The North West Branch event takes place at MediaCityUK next week and will see Livesey quizzed by new Real Radio NW breakfast presenter Sam Walker.

Tony Livesey’s show was the first 5 live programme to be broadcast live from the new Salford studio complex last September. He’s also a familiar face in the region from his work as a presenter on television for North West Tonight and Late Kick Off.

Before joining 5 live, Tony was the breakfast presenter at BBC Radio Lancashire and has also been Editor-in-chief of the Daily Sport newspaper.

Sam Walker left Manchester station Key 103’s afternoon show earlier this year and this week started on breakfast at Real Radio across the water from the BBC in Salford Quays. She also co-presents a weekly show, Double Take, on 5 live on Sunday mornings.

Anyone working in radio is invited to join the audience for the Q&A session on Thursday 12th April from 6pm at the BBC’s Quay House in Salford. The event is free for Radio Academy members (which includes anyone working for radio groups which are Patrons – click here to check if you are a member) and £3 for non-members.

Booking is required – find out more on the Radio Academy website.

People working in radio in the North West can also join a new Facebook page to keep up with Academy events in the region.
