Swansea Bay’s local radio station Nation Hits! has recognised the success of local young people with the ‘Swansea Bay Young Achiever Awards’.
Young people from across the Swansea Bay area received awards for success in a range of categories from community and voluntary work to business, education and the arts.
The event was hosted by Nation Hits! presenter Chris Blumer and Shaheen Jafargholi, the Swansea born star that shot to fame in 2009 on Britain’s Got Talent.
Nation Hits! Director Andy Griffiths said the event was a great success: “Twelve young people were called up on stage to receive their awards. Each individual was inspirational for different reasons. It was great to be able to shine the spotlight on such young and positive people. At the end of the night, our special guest, Australian pop star Gabriella Cilmi presented a surprise award to Shaheen. He’s a Swansea Bay Young Achiever himself and someone we’re all proud of”.
