Unique to make Sky Arts television show

UBC Media Group’s production division Unique has been contracted by BskyB’s Sky Arts channel to provide a series of 7 programmes celebrating the history of the Bolshoi Ballet.

The series will comprise six unseen classic performances from one of the world’s most prestigious ballet companies. The original recordings, discovered in the vaults of the Russian state television, are being digitised and fully restored for broadcast in the UK on Sky Arts.

Simon Cole, Chief executive of UBC commented: “This commission represents a development of our relationship with Sky Arts. Having provided them with highlights of the Cambridge Folk Festival for the last two years, I’m pleased to have the opportunity to show what we can do in the area of documentary production and arts programming.”

The first programme, Bolshoi Unseen: Swan Lake will be transmitted on Sunday 11th August at 8pm to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Bolshoi’s first performances in London. The other five ballets will broadcast at a future date on Sky Arts and will be accompanied by a documentary programme, presented by Deborah Bull, a Principal at the Royal Ballet from 1992 to 2001.

UBC Media Group is a family of companies, working in related areas of production, content creation and software design.
