NFL coverage time at Absolute Radio 90s

Absolute Radio 90s is set to broadcast its featured match this Sunday, to an overseas Forces audience on BFBS Radio 2.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will host the San Francisco 49ers at Wembley stadium with exclusive commentary on the station from Adam Hunt, Darren Fletcher and special guest, American football colour commentator and NFL Super Bowl winner, Rocky Michael Boiman.

For the first time, HM Forces in Afghanistan, Brunei, Canada, and Cyprus, the Falkland Islands, Germany, Gibraltar, Kenya and the Middle East, as well as Royal Navy ships at sea, will be able to hear Absolute Radio 90s coverage of an NFL fixture.

Absolute Radio’s Head of Presentation Paul Sylvester said: “We’re thrilled to be sharing our NFL broadcast with BFBS this Sunday and hope the troops enjoy what promises to be a brilliant match. American Football’s popularity in the UK continues to grow and we know are enjoying it on a Sunday night”

Head of BFBS Radio 2, Mario Chrisostomou says: “Because of their love of all sport and perhaps as a result of their close contact with U.S Forces in operational areas over the last 3 decades, British personnel have developed a keen interest in Gridiron. Many servicemen and women have ‘adopted’ NFL teams and it’s great that, courtesy of Absolute Radio 90s, we can bring them coverage of Sunday’s clash.”

Absolute Radio secured the commentary rights for American football in an exclusive national radio rights deal last month. The agreement sees digital spinoff station Absolute Radio 90s broadcasting a total of twenty games across the season on Sunday nights with coverage culminating on in The Super Bowl.

This special broadcast, which is to be featured on the main station, will include the half-time entertainment show.

Absolute Radio’s NFL programmes are produced by USP Content, who hav have worked with Absolute Radio on the station’s Barclays Premier League coverage and Ian Wright’s Rock N Roll Football show for four seasons.

BFBS Radio will switch to Absolute Radio 90s this Sunday 27th once their Chelsea v Man City live feed is concluded.
