BBC Tees and Middlesbrough FC have extended their deal to provide exclusive commentary of all of Middlesbrough FC’s games home and away for the next three seasons.
The new line-up at BBC Tees sees Mark Drury leading the match day commentary at all games. Mark is joined by ex-Boro player Neil Maddison who is in his third season as co-commentator, and touchline reporter Rob Law makes up the match day team.
Last season Middlesbrough FC gained promotion to The Premier League and the 2016/17 season will see them take on Premier League teams including Manchester United, Chelsea, Champions Leicester City and local rivals Sunderland. BBC Tees will be at each game to capture every goal, save and free kick, providing commentary, interviews and touchline reporting throughout the season.
Boro commentator, Mark Drury, said: “I’m really looking forward to seeing Middlesbrough kick off a Premier League season for the first time in eight years. The end of last season was one of the most dramatic and exciting I can remember in 30 years of watching The Boro and I’m sure this season is going to be just as eventful. It will be a huge pleasure seeing Aitor Karanka’s side taking on the big boys at some of the most famous grounds in Europe and a real privilege for me and Neil to bring the atmosphere back into people’s homes and workplaces all across Teesside.”
Dan Thorpe, Managing Editor of BBC Tees added: “’Proud of where we live’ is the strapline of the radio station and that’s certainly how we feel about Boro’s return to the top tier. We know our listeners love the commentary that BBC Tees provides on Middlesbrough FC and I am delighted that the station will continue to cover all the team’s matches for the next three years.”
