Jon Holmes takes an unexpected journey

Jon Holmes has starred in another video about digital radio, getting its first screening at the Radio Festival.

Jon travels around the UK looking at digital radio and the minimuxes currently operating in a number of towns and cities around the UK, showcasing the growth of digital radio stations.

He even visits his current employer, talkRADIO, to look at the studios of Virgin Radio, talkSPORT etc, and touches on Wireless Group being taken over by News Corp.

We’ve got the video for you to watch at home, work or even in the car, right here.

Jon Holmes, said: ‘In the last year, new voices and new ideas have flourished with an explosion of creativity and innovation thanks to the expansion of digital radio. It’s important that we take a moment to acknowledge that something amazing is happening in radio, and I can’t think of a better way to reflect this other than for Digital Radio UK to force a short man to dress as a hobbit against his will and send him to Brighton.’

Ford Ennals, CEO, Digital Radio UK, adds: ‘Jon is a terrific advocate of digital radio and a brilliant writer and performer on every level. There could not be a better man to tell this incredible story of innovation and creativity in quite such a unique and truly entertaining way.’

In the course of his journey, Jon Holmes: The Hobbit’s Journey – The Rise of Digital, Jon Holmes meets Rashid Mustapha, Ofcom; Anthony Martin, Reverb Radio; Sean McAuliffe, NTS Radio; Daria Komarova, Matryoshka Radio; Surjit Singh Ghuman MBE, Panjab Radio; Steve Parkinson, Bauer; and Brett Spencer, BBC.
