Presenter Steve Penk is the latest to open a YouTube channel, offering videos of wind-ups performed by fans of his prank phone calls.
He launched a podcast six weeks ago, which he says has been “a phenomenal success resulting in people downloading the show across the globe”.
“It has been unbelievable” says Steve, I’ve had people contacting me via Twitter from Los Angeles, Japan, Australia, Spain, and of course across the UK, but by far the biggest reaction has been from London and Greater Manchester, with people kindly letting me know how much they’re enjoying the show, which has been fantastic. The most exciting part about this project is reaching a whole new audience who have never heard these calls before.
Steve wants people to film wind ups and send the results to him.
“I believe the general public can be hugely entertaining and creative, and I want to show the world that unique, brilliant British sense of humour in all its laugh out loud glory on my new channel,” he says.
Chris Moyles has also launched a YouTube channel and has been posted one video per week, in “A week in the life of Chris Moyles” in which Steve said was “rubbish and late” shortly after it launched.
A spokesperson for Heart North East told RadioToday: “We know that our listeners love Justin and Kelly already, so we are looking forward to them waking up the North East every weekday morning. We would also like to welcome Tom Campbell to the Heart North East family.”
