  • Hoax! on BBC Radio 4 Extra

    April 1, 2017 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

To celebrate April fool’s day, comedian Jake Yapp delves into the archives to celebrate the history of hoaxing and presents a unique insight into the development and psychology of the art of this form of deception.

Featuring memorable and entertaining extracts along with full BBC radio programmes including Down The Line and Incredible Women, Jake unearths some lesser known treasures such as the 1971 tribute to the non-existent Gerald Burley by Yehudi Menuhin and David Attenborough’s report on the sounds of the fictitious Sheba Islands.

Along the way Jake gathers together a selection of new contributions from pranksters and people who have studied the fictitious falsehoods made to masquerade as the truth, as he attempts to find out just how hard it is to create a convincing hoax.
