Ofcom advertise Bristol licence

Ofcom have advertised a new FM commercial radio licence to cover the city of Bristol and the surrounding area. The only confirmed application so far to RadioToday.co.uk is from Absolute Radio International Ltd (ARI) who have joined forces with Town and Country Broadcasting Ltd (T&C) to create a joint bid.

The city already has two dedicated commercial radio stations, GCap Media’s GWR FM and UKRD’s Star 107.2FM.

Ofcom estimates that this licence could achieve coverage of an area with an adult (aged 15+) population of around 500,000 . The exact coverage will be determined by the location of the transmission site and other technical characteristics.

The closing date for the receipt of applications is 3.00 p.m. on Friday 9 June 2006. A non-refundable fee of ?10,000 will be payable for each application submitted.
