Ofcom agree to STAR co-locate

Ofcom have agreed to let radio group UKRD co-locate STAR Radio (Stroud) with its neighbouring station STAR Radio (Cheltenham).

UKRD recently proposed to co-locate the two stations and to simulcast the majority of programme output (excluding news) across both stations.

Following consideration of responses to its consultation and the views of Ofcom?s Content Board, the Radio Licensing Committee agreed to the co-location arrangements, but did not agree to programme sharing. This could be seen within the industry as a milestone and could see the start of similar proposals by other clusters of small stations.
