GCap Media report increase

GCap Media stations now have a reach up to 16.3 million listeners and a 33% commercial share, confirming the fact that they are the largest operator in the commercial radio sector with topline growth across the Group.

However, it is a different story at Capital Radio with the ‘flagship’ station in the group lost listeners at breakfast and sunk to its lowest ever audienc share.

Overall, Classic FM increases reach to 5.8 million listeners, Xfm national reach increases to 1.1 million listeners?, Growth at key One Network stations with reach up to 7.4 million listeners and the number of listeners to digital only stations up to 768,000 with hours up by 17%.

GCap Media Operations Director, Steve Orchard commented: ?Our strategy is to stem the audience decline at our core heritage stations while increasing digital listening and strengthening our national brands. These results show that the programming improvements across the One Network are delivering growth. Classic FM, Xfm and the Century network continue to reinforce our national position and listening to our digital only stations has increased by 17% to 4.4 million hours. In London, GCap Media remains the clear commercial leader. Xfm London is celebrating its highest ever share with hours up 32%. As we anticipated, Capital Radio has seen a decline in listening, but our plans for the station remain on track and we are confident about its long term prospects.?
