Diana concert live on Radio 2

A massive pop concert next summer in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales is to be broadcast live on BBC Radio 2. The BBC is the UK broadcast partner for the event, which is expected to feature acts like Sir Elton John, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Duran Duran and Joss Stone.

In addition to the radio broadcast the BBC will also screen the show live on BBC, as well as webcasting the event. More acts are expected to be announced soon for the Wembley Stadium gig. Bryan Ferry, Pharrell Williams and English National Ballet are also confirmed for the bill already.

The controller of Radio 2, Lesley Douglas, told RadioToday.co.uk: "This promises to be not only a brilliant concert but also a really important one. I am delighted that Radio 2 has been given the opportunity to reflect the event across its output."

Director of BBC Audio & Music Jenny Abramsky added: "We're thrilled that Princes William and Harry have decided to work with us – the event will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC Radio 2 – as well as online – and will be a real highlight for the whole of the UK this summer."
