The end of the Q

Renfrewshire local station Q96 has closed. The station finished at 6pm Friday with presenter Ciaran O`Toole announcing: 'This was Q96' followed by the final ad break and the final song – Fairytale Of New York by The Pogues. Listen to the audio in our download area.

The station then when silent followed by a montage of audio history including the Spice Girls and Martin Luther King. Now the frequency is announcing that 96.3 Rock Radio is coming soon. The station is also available on Digital Radio.

Q96 started broadcasting on September 1st 1992, broadcasting from Paisley as a radio station for Paisley and Renfrewshire. It is now based at Real Radio headquarters in the Baillieston area Glasgow after being bought by GMG Radio in October 2006.
