New research published today by Ofcom reveals that more than 80 per cent of UK homes now have digital television on their main set. This is great news for radio too, with Sky, Freeview and Virgin Media all carrying digital radio stations to even more homes.
The figure is up from 77.2 per cent during the first quarter of 2007, with Freeview overtaking the number of Sky UK subscribers for the first time. During the quarter a further 869,000 UK homes acquired digital television for the first time, following over a million additions the previous quarter.
Sky has over 100 radio stations, whilst Freeview currently carries around 30.
