A familiar voice often heard on BBC Radio Lancashire in the 70s and 80s has died at the age of 73. John Fletcher W Richardson spent 25 years living in the Blackburn area, leaving in 1992. He died in Scotland on October 4th from a stroke and heart attack.
Gerald Jackson, who worked with him at the station told the Preston Citizen he was always funny, entertaining and rewarding, and was brilliant on the phone-in.
He was best known for his Geordie voice, and was referred to on-air as Fletcher Richardson. Joe Wilson, a former presenter at the station described him as Mr Radio Lancashire.
