Radio Scotland goes all-speech

BBC Radio Scotland is going all-speech today by taking away the music. No Music Day is being staged in association with music business iconoclast Bill Drummond to try and prove how important the music is on the station by not playing any.

"Radio Scotland broadcasts more live music than all the Scottish commercial stations put together," says Jeff Zycinski, Head of Radio.

"The day will also prompt the question 'What kind of music do we want?'"

Wednesday is the day before St Cecilia's Day, patron saint of music.
