Burgess quits UTV Radio

UTV Radio's senior programmer for stations in the north of England Gary Burgess has quit his position. His resignation comes just days after former newspaper sales boss Mike Baker was appointed senior station director for Wish, Wire and Tower FM.

Burgess’ decision to leave the company is thought to be amicable, as he returns to the Channel Islands where he was living prior to joining UTV Radio 12 months ago. During his tenure at UTV Radio (GB), Burgess has overseen music programming at the groups stations across the north of England.

On leaving, Burgess said: “It was with a heavy heart that I tendered my resignation. I have had a fantastic year working for UTV Radio and it has been a privilege to work with so many dedicated, professional and talented individuals."

John Dash, group programme director said: “All at UTV Radio will be sorry to see Gary leave and I would like to take this opportunity to thank him not only for all the hard work he has completed in the north of England but across the group as a whole. We wish him all the best in his new venture.”

Mike Baker began his radio career Piccadilly before joining the launch team at Signal in Stoke in 1983 as local sales manager.

UTV Radio are currently looking for a programme controller for 107.6 Juice FM, and a senior programmer for 102.4 Wish FM, 107.2 Wire FM and 107.4 Tower FM. This role will also encompass additional responsibility for Radio Wave 96.5, and 104.9 Imagine FM.
