Wales gets GMG Radio crown

Real Radio Wales has been awarded radio station of the year at the GMG Radio Christmas party and awards ceremony. Staff mingled with the stars including Westlife, McFly, Billy Ocean and Gabrielle at the glitzy event in Manchester on Saturday.

Real Radio Wales fought off 11 other stations within the group to win the award, after delivering record audience figures in the last 12 months along with outstanding commercial performance. Westlife flew in for the evening to perform their latest hit single ‘Home’, and present the award to Real Radio’s managing Director, Andy Carter.

GMG Radio Chief Executive John Myers said: “Each year our group awards become more and more competitive and this year was no exception with five newly acquired stationed competing for the title of Station of the Year. Real Radio Wales has had an outstanding year in 2007 and this award is a terrific achievement for the entire team”.
