Former Global exec offers help

Global Radio's former director of regulatory and public affairs Daniel Owen has gone solo, offering advice on the rules and regulations of the industry.

Ironically, his new company has been set up just as GCap received the largest ever fine imposed by Ofcom on a radio broadcaster for a text-to-win secret sound competition.
Daniel said: “The GCap fine will have focused broadcasters’ attention even more on regulation and compliance. But, for all their good intentions, broadcasters can feel that regulation has become a complicated burden whilst others, particularly smaller radio broadcasters, are unable to devote resources to a dedicated compliance manager.
Daniel Owen joined Chrysalis Radio as strategy and development manager in 2000, becoming director of strategy and development in 2002 and director of regulatory and public affairs in 2004. Previously, he was deputy director of development at the Radio Authority where he worked from 1996 to 2000.
