XFM Scotland to become Galaxy

Global Radio has announced it will re-brand XFM Scotland as Galaxy Scotland.
The re-brand is part of Global Radio’s major strategy to expand the brand across the UK. It is expected that Galaxy Scotland will be on air before the end of 2008, meaning a second name change for the Glasgow-based station which launched as Beat 106 in 1999.

Richard Park, Global Radio’s executive director said: “Central Scotland can prepare itself to receive Britain’s fastest growing radio station aimed at young people and the prospect of the output from the Glasgow studios is an exciting one.”
The rebrand has been expected for several months, since Global Radio moved to acquire GCap Media. It is also expected to re-brand Power FM and Choice London as Galaxy before too long.
